Drill Bit Selector

Select your material, hole size, and drill type — get the exact bit recommendation, why it works, and where to buy it.

Step 1 — What are you drilling into?

How to choose the right drill bit

The material you're drilling into determines the bit type — carbide for masonry and concrete, HSS or cobalt for metal, brad-point for clean wood holes, and diamond-coated for tile and glass. Your drill type matters too: SDS-Plus bits only work in SDS hammer drills, while standard twist bits fit any drill with a keyed or keyless chuck.
